The Republic Project A project by Mike Hower

The Lexicon

The vocabulary that holds the architecture together.

Five components and two companion projects, one shared language. Each of the Republic Project's sites — The Resilient Objectivist, The Constitution in Plain English, Engineering America, The American Party, An American Curriculum, The Rational Thinker, The Rational Celebrant — has its own local Lexicon folder, for the terms specific to its own subject matter. TRO and TCIPE have opened theirs in earnest; the rest hold a single seed entry each, waiting on the substantive work that will populate them. This page holds what no single site's Lexicon does: the terms that recur across more than one component and belong to none of them alone.

A term earns a place here when it names a core design pattern that spans the architecture, an external concept the project has adopted project-wide, or a coinage from the philosophical canon itself — never simply because it appears more than once. Most vocabulary stays local to the site that uses it. What travels, travels because the concept travels, not the word.

The flow between lexicons runs one direction. The Resilient Objectivist's philosophical vocabulary — rights, consent, force, and the rest of Resilient Objectivism's moral architecture — flows downstream into every other component; those sites cite it rather than redefine it. This shared TRP layer sits beside that flow, holding the terms that cut across components on a different axis: not philosophy inherited downstream, but structure recurring sideways — a design pattern used in both Engineering America and The American Party, say, rather than a term unique to either.

One writer keeps this layer consistent. Every entry, every cross-reference, and the generated index that ties them together are maintained as a single structure, so a see_also always resolves and a slug never breaks out from under the page that names it. Reading stays open to anyone — browse the full alphabetical list.

Change Log
  • 3 Sep 26 — status flipped unpublishedpublished per Mike's direction (via joan, 2026-09-04T03:26:17Z): finish and publish trp.hower.me now, decoupled from the TCIPE-launch checkpoint this page was held on. No content touched; Charisma's copy is exactly as drafted 31 Aug 26.
  • 31 Aug 26 — Charisma's editorial pass on Eve's structural scaffold: expanded the mechanical two-paragraph placeholder into the full Appendix D framing (three-lexicon-home model, one-direction flow from TRO, single-writer rationale) for the trp.hower.me launch. navLinks and pipeline plumbing left as Eve seeded them. Post-draft Opus review flagged "seven components" (should be five components plus two companions, matching the Architecture page) and an overstated claim that all seven sites "maintain" a populated Lexicon, when five of seven hold a single seed term; both corrected. Linked the previously-bare "browse... below" to the actual Browse page. status held unpublished pending the TCIPE-launch checkpoint (workstream trp-hub-site, step 4) — not final copy.
  • 31 Aug 26 — Initial post (Eve), written to wire the site's Lexicon nav item now that trp.hower.me is a real subdomain build. Structural/mechanical framing, consistent with the equivalent page on the other TRP-family sites.
